Recent reports revealed that aespa member Ningning donated 20 million won to help 600 elderly families during the heatwave sweeping through South Korea, demonstrating once again her kind heart.
The Seoul Branch of the Korean Red Cross announced on July 15th the launch of a new initiative named the Summer Heatwave Relief Support Project to protect vulnerable elders from heat-related illnesses amid the tropical temperatures.
This program has a total budget of approximately 27 million KRW, or 18,200 USD, coming from Ningning’s donation, which will provide support to 600 single-person elderly households in the Seoul Branch’s ‘Warmth for Every Home,’ particularly those with residents at risk of dying alone.
They will receive portable neck cooling fans and three types of nutritious meals, including samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup), galbitang (beef short rib soup), and dohganitang (ox knee cartilage soup), which will keep them healthy during the summer conditions.
These products will be delivered twice before the end of the month, personally to those most in need by Korean Red Cross volunteers familiar with their local communities. Volunteer Council President Park Myung Sook expressed her gratitude to the aespa member:
“We sincerely thank Ningning for her generous support. Together with our volunteers, we will do our utmost to ensure her kindness reaches those who need it most.”
