The whole theater stood up on their feet to congratulate Adrien Brody for his victory in “Actor in a Leading Role” for his amazing role in “The Brutalist.” The actor’s lengthy acceptance speech on Sunday night beat a Guinness World Record for the longest speech in the Oscars ceremony.

He came up onstage, not before spitting out his chewing gum and throwing it to partner Georgina Chapman. Usually, actors, actresses, writers, and producers have a standard 45-second time to speak. However, Broody completely ignored the rules.

Adrien Brody’s Oscars speech lasted over 5 minutes and 31 seconds, thus breaking the record for the longest speech in the ceremony’s history. The record was previously held by Greer Garson in 1943 with a 5-minute and 30-second speech.

When the music started to cut the star off, Brody rekindled one of his most iconic moments, after he won his first Oscar in 2003 for “The Pianist.” However, this time, he wanted to share all of his thoughts and feelings even if the standard time was gone.

“Turn the music off! I’ve done this before. Thank you. It’s not my first rodeo, but I will be brief.”
