The Hollywood film industry had been experiencing major delays and losses of millions of dollars due to the fact that the screenwriters union had entered into an indefinite strike, which today has been going on for a little over 2 months, and now the nightmare of the big executives and production companies of the multi-billion dollar industry has come true, and is that the actors union SAG-AFTRA, has decided to join the strike of the screenwriters, causing a total freeze on the sets of recording.

Last Thursday, the Actors Guild of the United States officially went on strike, this after failed negotiations with Hollywood studios to reach a new collective agreement, this caused a total paralysis in the productions and now every minute that passes would mean millions of dollars in losses for the industry.

Going on strike is too serious, as it can affect millions of people around the world. But sadly we had to come to this crossroads, we had no choice“, said union president Fran Drescher. The decision to go on strike indefinitely and join the screenwriters’ strikes was approved by 98% of the union’s members.

This means that SAG-AFTRA has convinced all its members to stop the activities and services they are performing under the coverage of the previous agreement, “We couldn’t get what our members deserve, so this is where we draw the line“, added Drescher. He also made it clear that the union remains open to any negotiations that the AMPTP decides to propose.
