Released on August 11th of last year, ‘Red, White & Royal Blue’ turned out to be the arguably the biggest romantic comedy of last year’s summer, and has since then been known as the first LGBT+ romcom to hold that title. The movie’s success was so unprecedented that it broke records for first day, first week and first month popularity in the Prime Video streaming service. Due to its success, the movie was expected to get a sequel, and the requests from fans and the sequel buzz started barely two days after the release of the first installment. Fortunately for the millions of people who watch and liked the movie, Prime Video just confirmed that a continuation for the plot is currently in the works.

‘Red White and Royal Blue’ is a rather unusual enemies to lovers trope story between two fictional characters: the first son of the United States Alex, played by Taylor Zakhar Perez, and the Prince Henry of England, played by Nicholas Galitzine, who fall in love after finding out they are not natural rivals but can complement each other’s work and personalities. The plot of the movie attracted public from outside the LGBT community, which fueled its massive success.
The sequel will be written by the author of the book that the movie is based on, in collaboration with the director of the movie. In the last scene of the first ‘Red White and Royal Blue’, we can see both the Prince Henry and the First son Alex moving in together after making their relationship public, and they left no clues about the near future of the couple, so the plot of the second movie is up in the air and fans are already eager to be surprised when more details are revealed.
