The Hunger Games is one of the most influential and successful film franchises of the last decade but it looks like things were not as perfect as it seemed as one of the actresses recently made an upsetting confession.
Jena Malone, who played Johanna Mason in the movies, shocked everyone earlier this week by making a very personal Instagram post discussing her experience while filming the movie. The actress revealed that she was sexually assaulted during the production of the last installment of the popular franchise. She explained that the movie was her biggest moment yet as a film star but it was unfortunately ruined by this horrible experience.

.
Even tho this time in Paris was extremely hard for me, was going thru a bad break up and also was sexually assaulted by someone I had worked with, I was so full of gratitude for this project, the people I became close with and this amazing part I got to play. A swirling mix of emotions im only now just learning to sort thru. I wish it wasn’t tied to such a traumatic event for me but that is the real wildness of life I I guess.
Malone stated that she did not come forward and reveal the name of her abuser then because she was afraid the movie would be surrounded by controversy and be canceled as a result. Being part of it was something special to her and her career so that is why she decided to stay silent until now and even though she had to go through it alone for many years, she feels ready to talk about it and begin her healing process.
