Netflix has released the first trailer for its new animated series “Stranger Things: Tales From ’85.” The animated show is created by Eric Robles and executive-produced by the Duffer Brothers. It will expand on previous moments of the Stranger Things universe, following the conclusion of the original series with its fifth and final season.

“Stranger Things: Tales From ’85” expands the Stranger Things universe after the main series ended with its fifth season. The show will premiere on April 23 and marks the franchise’s first official animated project. The story is set in Hawkins during the winter of 1985 and takes place between Seasons 2 and 3 of the original series. Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max stay together as a friend group, enjoying the winter break from school. However, the fun is interrupted when a dangerous, mysterious threat begins to grow beneath the town, forcing them to investigate and protect their home once more.

Eleven and Mike in Stranger Things: Tales from '85:

“We start the show with that sense of young love. Eleven’s excited about her new life, her new friends, [and] being able to experience new things. And everybody’s excited about the potential of the Starcourt Mall opening soon.” pic.twitter.com/lOAdDsAHJA

Flying Bark Productions is responsible for the animation. The Duffer Brothers executive produce alongside Robles, Hilary Leavitt via Upside Down Pictures, Shawn Levy via 21 Laps, and Dan Cohen.
