TWICE made history on August 2, 2025, by becoming the first K-pop girl group to headline Lollapalooza. With a 21-song set full of live vocals and fun performances, they had the crowd going wild. But just when fans at the shows were begging for an encore, things took a turn that left concertgoers and the TWICE members themselves feeling disappointed.

While the girl group was ready to give the crowd a final song, the event organizers had other plans. As they tried to sing the encore, all of their microphones were suddenly muted after going beyond the scheduled set time. The girls still tried to speak and wave, but only a subtle “thank you” made it through. Short clips capturing the moment are now moving across social media, showing TWICE’s uncomfortable expressions after being cut off.
the staff had to cut off their mics and the girls were disappointed😭 one thing about twice is that they LOVE performing. pic.twitter.com/yBjcDa58c1 https://t.co/PyEa1nyxxF

While fans were disappointed by the sudden end, this is standard practice at big festivals. Normally, artists can’t keep performing after their scheduled times, with many festivals even charging fines to any live performers who are on stage overtime. Despite the encore being shut down by the organizers, TWICE still showed they’re global icons in their own right with charm, live vocals, and dazzling choreography.
