This was the year BLACKPINK went a true supernova, going more global than ever.

2020 was their year, breaking record after record and selling more than ever. They released their long-awaited full-length album, The Album, in October. Although the album only features eight songs, each one is packed with dignified vocals and hard-hitting raps.

The band released the first single, “How You Like That,” over the summer. Following it up with the perfectly pop song “Ice Cream” featuring Selena Gomez. Its main theme is “Lovesick Girls”, a nostalgic single about love and anguish. The album also features the band’s regular raps on songs like “Pretty Savage” and “Bet You Wanna” featuring Cardi B.

The 4 girls continue to dominate this 2020. It is reported that they now have the best-selling female album of 2020 worldwide with over 5 million units. Jennie, Rosé, Jisoo and Lisa achieved this important milestone after announcing a virtual concert for 2021 promoting their successful studio work.

In general, the best-selling albums worldwide released this 2020 in no specific order are the following: ‘Map Of The Soul: 7‘ by BTS, ‘folklore’ by Taylor Swift, ‘BE’ by BTS, ‘THE ALBUM’ BLACKPINK and Lay Zhang’s ‘Lit’, Dua Lipa’s ‘Future Nostalgia’ and more; Although this has not been the best year to release music, many artists have taken risks and have achieved great success.

BLACKPINK is among those artists, and recently Variety named them the group of the year for their incredible success in the West. They recently joined the UN to make a positive change in the world and help against global warming.
