Woman detained after allegedly damaging YG Entertainment headquarters with golf club

A woman in her 20s was taken into custody after she was reportedly seen striking the company’s glass

A woman in her 20s was arrested after allegedly damaging the entrance glass of YG Entertainment’s headquarters in Seoul with a golf club. According to local media reports, Mapo police detained the woman at around 9 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2026, local time, outside the company’s building in Hapjeong-dong. “We understand that she was handed over to the police. It is difficult for us to confirm any further details,” an official report by YG Entertainment said.

A video recorded by a fan nearby showed the woman running toward the building while carrying a golf club. She then appeared to strike the glass entrance doors several times. The female suspect raised the club again, but a bystander stepped in and restrained her before the authorities came to the scene. The clip was then shared widely on social media on Friday, August 7, bringing more attention to the incident and raising questions about the reasons behind the attack on the company.

Police are reportedly investigating the woman’s motive and the circumstances surrounding the damage. Some unverified online rumors claimed that she may have been a BLACKPINK fan who was unhappy with the quartet’s promotion of their 10th anniversary as a group. However, there is currently no confirmed evidence connecting the attack to BLACKPINK or any fan-related complaint. Authorities have not publicly identified a motive, and YG Entertainment has not made any additional comments on the suspect nor the damage to its headquarters. Police have not announced whether charges will be pressed as the investigation into the property damage continues.
