Universal just dropped the final trailer for “Wicked: For Good,” the sequel to the 2024 blockbuster adaptation of the Broadway hit. With the Land of Oz opening its doors again, the movie is set to fly into theaters on November 21st, 2025. This time, Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion finally make their big-screen debut.
The film picks up with Elphaba and Glinda, played by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, as their friendship faces its toughest moment yet. The story spans both before and after Dorothy’s iconic arrival from Kansas, showing how Elphaba becomes the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda embraces her role as the Good Witch of the North. The trailer brings drama, magic, and some serious heartfelt moments as Oz gets turned upside down.
Director Jon M. Chu is back in the chair, with a stacked supporting cast including Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, and more. The first “Wicked” film made serious moves, grossing $756 million worldwide and scoring 10 Oscar nominations, taking the prize for costume design. With such a high bar, expectations for this finale are through the roof. But if the trailer is any indication, we might just be defying gravity.
