Arirang TV will air “K-Pop: The Next Chapter,” a broadcast featuring TWICE’s Jihyo and Jeongyeon, “KPop Demon Hunters” co-director Maggie Kang, producer-DJ R.Tee, music critic Kim Young-dae, and, most importantly, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung himself. Hosted by Jang Sung-kyu, the special will dive deep into K-pop’s past, present, and where it’s headed next. The meeting will take place on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
The presidential office revealed this program will reflect on K-pop’s global reach while sketching out new strategies for cultural growth. The South Korean leader has been pushing hard to position the country as a cultural powerhouse, unveiling a five-year plan to expand the digital and media ecosystem. And the best part? K-culture is at the forefront.
The timing couldn’t be better. With KPop Demon Hunters racking up international hype and TWICE touring the world, Lee stressed that “the wave that began with K-pop is now spreading across K-culture.” Discussions are expected to range from global fandom to new policies that will help South Korea’s cultural power.
