The Fantastic Four have officially made their comeback, and they’re killing it. Fantastic Four: First Steps launched this weekend and crushed expectations with a $120 to $125 million debut. That’s toe-to-toe with DC’s Superman, which dropped just two weeks earlier. After years of flop history in the franchise (especially 2015’s “FANT4STIC”), this is exactly the glow-up the franchise needed.
Right now, summer films are heating up theaters, with Superman, Eddington, and Jurassic World Rebirth taking turns at the top. But First Steps just took the crown from all of them. It even earned more than the rest of the top five combined. While Superman held $24.5 million in its third weekend and Jurassic World added $13 million, the Fantastic Four ate up the competition. All eyes are now on its second weekend to see if Marvel can avoid the usual MCU slump.
Catch the top 5 here:

First Steps might be the start of a new era, putting the focus back on quality and classic heroes. The real test will be how well it holds up next weekend. If it drops less than 50 percent, it might just take the crown from Superman. Either way, superhero fatigue is clearly not stopping fans from showing up for this one.
