This is how Meghan Markle supported the Cookie Queens documentary

The Duchess of Sussex surprised Girl Scouts at a California camp before the Cookie Queens theatrical release

Meghan Markle surprised young campers during a special visit to Camp Arnaz in Ojai, California, on July 29, 2026. The Duchess of Sussex attended a private screening of Cookie Queens, a film she executive produced with her husband, Prince Harry. Director Alysa Nahmias joined the mother of three at the event, which took place less than an hour from the couple’s Montecito home. At the venue, Meghan met campers, posed for photos, and spent time with several Girl Scouts who appear in the documentary.

“You never know who might show up for a screening of @cookiequeensfilm!” Nahmias shared a group photo on her Instagram story at sunset.

Cookie Queens follows four Girl Scouts named Olive, Nikki, Shannon Elizabeth, and Ara during the annual cookie selling season. Each girl creates a personal sales goal and faces different problems while trying to achieve their objective. The documentary shows the pressure, teamwork, confidence, and business skills involved in the program. Meghan Markle’s connection to the project is personal because she was also a Girl Scout when she was young. Her mother, Doria Ragland, served as her troop leader, which helped inspire the Duchess of Sussex to support the film.

The film initially premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2026 and is scheduled to arrive in theaters on August 7, 2026. With Meghan’s appearance, campers had a chance to meet one of the names behind the executive production of the film and celebrate their stories shown on screen. The appearance also connected Meghan’s own Girl Scout experience with a new generation of girls learning leadership, responsibility, and confidence.

“As a former Girl Scout myself, with my mom as my troop leader, I have a personal affinity for this film and am proud that Archewell Productions has partnered with this award-winning team to executive produce this incredibly captivating film,”  the Duchess of Sussex said in a March press release about the documentary.
