In recent days, the creators of ‘Stranger Things‘ have emerged on the media outlets, shockingly talking about a beloved character of the series in which they assure that he was always doomed to tragedy.

During 2022 Matt and Ross Duffer appeared on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast for the promotions of ‘Stranger Things’ season 4, where they were asked about the death of Eddie Munson, played by Joseph Quinn, who became a standout character in the last episodes and had a tragic ending, breaking all viewers’ hearts.

“Even imagining the flipside of that, where he does survive that final battle, there’s not a great life waiting for Eddie in the right side up either, so he was really designed from the get-go as a doomed character,” explained Matt.

“He was always going to be a tragic character. There was no other arc for him. He would have wound up in jail—this fantasy that he would have been in Milwaukee graduating sadly was never an outcome for him,” said Ross in addition.

Eddie Munson was definitely a surprise for many due to his difficult history and heroic death that not only had an impact on fans at the end of the fourth season but also on Dustin, who worked on his grief throughout the fifth installment and even honored his friend at his graduation.
