A Syrian teen, Mohammad A., has been charged by German prosecutors following Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour terrorist plot. According to a statement released Friday, June 27, the teen had been following Islamic State ideology since at least April 2024 and helped another young Austrian suspect plan a deadly attack.
Authorities say Mohammad A. translated bomb-making instructions from Arabic and helped the Austrian teen connect with a member of the Islamic State. He also provided a written pledge of allegiance to the group, which the Austrian used to join IS. The plan came to light just weeks before Taylor Swift’s scheduled performances. On August 7, 2024, promoter Barracuda Music canceled all three shows planned for August 8, 9, and 10, citing safety concerns. A CIA official later confirmed the intent: to kill tens of thousands of fans.
Three suspects were arrested in total: the 19-year-old Austrian (the main suspect), a 17-year-old Austrian, and an 18-year-old Iraqi. None of their names were released, and Mohammad A. has not been taken into custody. Following the shocking news, fans in Austria had a sweet consolation. n August 10, Disney teamed up with local broadcaster ORF to premiere Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) on TV, as a way to compensate concert-goers.
