Selena Gomez recently shared a personal story about an important gift she received from her friend Taylor Swift for her 30th birthday. The actress revealed the story during the second episode of her husband Benny Blanco’s podcast, Friends Keep Secrets. The Only Murders in the Building protagonist appeared with Lil Dicky and Kristen Batalucco. During the conversation, she explained that Taylor made a painted piece by hand, making it one of the most special presents she has ever received. The story came up while they were talking about wedding plans and everyday life, becoming one of the most heartfelt moments in the podcast.
Benny said he was surprised when Selena pulled the artwork out of storage while looking through old belongings. He explained that he thought it was made by a famous painter due to its quality. Later, he found out that Taylor had made it herself. In addition, the “Opalite” singer also created handwritten lyrics to a song she made about Selena. The present became even more personal because of the inclusion of both of their zodiac signs, giving it an astrology theme.
“She did it on an actual cloth, and she painted a beautiful lake,” she said. “It was at night, and the moon was there and in the stars…she painted our exact star signs. So for hers [Sagittarius] and mine [Cancer], and she described, ‘Here’s to the next 30 years,’ handsewn, ‘From Taylor to Selena,’ and it was all sewn by hand, so she had it painted or she painted it.”
Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez first became friends in 2008, when both were linked to members of the Jonas Brothers. Taylor was dating Joe Jonas, and Selena had a relationship with Nick Jonas. Since then, they have maintained a close friendship.
