The trailer is expected to debut online in March 2026

Reports indicate that the first trailer for Scary Movie 6 will be released online on March 2, 2026. Industry insider Daniel RPK shared that the footage is already playing in theaters ahead of Scream 7. The movie is slated to arrive in theaters on June 12, 2026. This marks the franchise’s comeback after 13 years, following the release of Scary Movie 5 in 2013. The announcement has heightened anticipation among fans of the comedy-horror series.

The film may parody recent horror titles

Although official plot details have not been confirmed, Marlon Wayans shared in a recent interview that the movie could parody films such as Get Out, Nope, and Scream. Reports from Dread Central also suggest that Terrifier 3 and other recent horror projects could be referenced in the parody. Some scenes were reportedly revised during editing, but certain parody sequences have been restored. Wayans also told Entertainment Weekly last year

“We just want to make everybody laugh, and we don’t care if you’re sensitive. Even sensitive people need to laugh at themselves.”

Original cast members return for the sequel

Marlon and Shawn Wayans will reprise their roles as Shorty Meeks and Ray Wilkins. Anna Faris as Cindy Campbell and Regina Hall as Brenda Meeks also return. The film is directed by Michael Tiddes and co-written by the Wayans brothers and Rick Alvarez. With familiar faces and updated cultural references, the sequel aims to bring a new chapter to the franchise in 2026.
