In recent reports, it was revealed that Scarlett Johansson is considering playing Mother Gothel in Disney’s live-action version of ‘Tangled‘ after announcing the movie is back in development.

A few hours ago, Deadline reported exclusively that Disney is “taking a fresh look at the live-action take on ‘Tangled'”, and its development is returning with Scarlett Johansson circling the role of Mother Gothel, Rapunzel’s mother, who trapped her in the tower.

This time, ‘The Greatest Showman’ director Michael Gracey is still in conversations to direct this production, working from a script by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson based on the 2010 animated movie, and no other details about the cast have been revealed.

In April this year, Disney paused the project development following the commercial failure of the ‘Snow White’ film adaptation; however, a few months later, the ‘Lilo & Stitch’ remake struck a major chord at the box office to the tune of $1 billion globally, restoring confidence in the live-action era.

On Networks, fans have reacted to the possibility of watching Scarlett Johansson in this role with comments like: “ScarJo telling Rapunzel to stay in the tower would hit way too smooth 😌🚪”, “kathryn hahn AS MOTHER GOTHEL PLEASEEE”, “we might finally get another good live action”, “i see the vision, a hot woman playing another hot woman”.
