During a recent Weverse livestream, BTS’s RM turned a casual chat into a deep-thought session about marriage and parenthood, marking yet another honest moment for the idol. With his signature chill vibes, the BTS rapper reflected on the pressures society puts on people, especially women, to marry and have children.
“When it comes to marriage, I think a lot of people feel pressured, both by reality and by society. Especially women, since there’s constant pressure from the media and people around them about having kids or other responsibilities.”
RM pointed out how social norms and media often push people into choices they’re not ready for, expressing that everyone should “live at their own pace.” According to him, choosing marriage to avoid loneliness is not the best approach. To him, comfortable people being alone can also be excellent partners.
“As for having kids I really don’t know. I already find it challenging enough to take care of myself, so raising another life… it’s not something that goes the way you want it to. Kids have their own personalities. When I think about how much trouble I gave my parents growing up, I can’t help but think, “What if I have a kid like me?” Ugh, just imagining it… I’d love them, sure, but it’d be tough.”
When asked about having kids, RM didn’t sugarcoat it: raising another human feels daunting. “I already find it challenging enough to take care of myself,” he admitted. The idol added that there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. Instead, he encouraged fans to follow their own choices for their future.
What’s your take? Do you agree with RM?
