Queen Camilla almost joined Only Murders in the Building as Meghan Markle is considering an acting return

The sixth season of the comedy will move much of its story to London and feature several British guest stars

Queen Camilla could have appeared in the upcoming sixth season of Only Murders in the Building! According to showrunner John Hoffman, producers briefly considered bringing the 79-year-old royal to appear in the Emmy-awarded comedy. In a recent interview with Vulture, Hoffman revealed that the show will shift much of its story to London, so the Queen’s appearance was considered for a moment.

“We almost got Camilla,” Hoffman revealed. “I know it’s insane, but yes, there was a moment.”

However, her cameo was eventually abandoned because of production challenges. Hoffman explained that filming in the United Kingdom comes with stricter union rules, including limits on the length of shooting days. Adding Queen Camilla to an already complex schedule would have created additional logistical concerns, so the idea was scrapped. Despite her absence, the next season of the series will feature British stars including David Tennant, Nicola Coughlan, Richard Ayoade, Geri Halliwell, Martin Freeman, Jennifer Saunders and Jim Broadbent.

The news comes as Meghan Markle is reportedly discussing another possible acting role. The Duchess of Sussex is said to be in talks for the third season of Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series The Gentlemen, although no agreement has been finalized. It has also been reported that this is one of the reasons why Prince Harry and Meghan decided to return to the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Meryl Streep are returning as cast members for Only Murders in the Building in London, which has been filmed in the summer of 2026.
