Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton’s royal residence bans five officers following “inappropriate” comments

The Metropolitan Police says the officers received guidance following complaints about their behavior

Complaints led to an internal investigation

Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton‘s London residence, Kensington Palace, became the focus of an internal police investigation after complaints were made about the conduct of five officers assigned to royal duties. According to reports, the Metropolitan Police received a public complaint in October 2024 regarding the behavior of the police officers. The accusations stated that the officers acted inappropriately on multiple occasions between August 2023 and September 2024. Although Kensington Palace is home to Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton, the royals are not directly involved in the investigation.

Police say the behavior did not reach misconduct levels

After reviewing the allegations, the Metropolitan Police concluded that the officers’ actions did not meet the official threshold for misconduct. However, the force acknowledged that the reported behavior did not comply with the standards expected of the officers, especially those assigned to protective duties.

“The reported behavior falls below the high standards expected of officers, particularly those in frontline protective roles. As a result of our internal investigation into this matter, the officers received reflective practice to consider their actions and identify learning for the future.”

Consequently, the officers were given effective practice guidance designed to help them review their actions and improve their professional conduct in the future. In addition, the Metropolitan Police affirmed that maintaining public trust remains a key priority for the organization.

Royal household staff reportedly revoked the officers’ access

According to reports from the Sun, a female employee working at Kensington Palace first raised concerns about the officers in October 2024. Allegations included one of the officers saying that the palace was “full of Hitlers,” while another tried to add a female employee on Facebook. Following the investigation, senior Royal Household officials reportedly decided to revoke the officers’ passes and ban them from working at royal residences. Even though Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton were informed about the situation, they were not involved in the final decision.
