Kate Middleton and Prince William may have enjoyed their holiday season with some tail wags and puppy breath. The royal couple sparked chatter after being spotted with two cocker spaniels. Fans believe the Prince and Princess of Wales decided to keep one of the puppies from their dog Orla’s litter, giving the family a new furry friend. Rebecca English from The Daily Mail revealed that having new puppies was especially exciting for the royal kids, Prince Goeroge, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, and that they wanted to keep one of the dogs.

The doggy news became official on June 21, 2025, when The Prince and Princess of Wales shared a sweet photo with the dogs. The snap showed the then-birthday boy, Prince William, surrounded by three tiny puppies from Orla’s litter on the grass. For those who might not know, Orla herself joined the family royal in 2020 when Kate’s brother, James Middleton, gifted her after his dog Luna delivered six adorable pups.

The new addition carries special meaning after the family said goodbye to Lupo, another cocker spaniel who passed away shortly after Orla arrived. Lupo was also gifted to Prince William and Kate by James Middleton as a late wedding present following their marriage in April 2011. And while Orla is now a mom of three, she continues to be a furry royal superstar, joining the family at charity polo events and even posing in Princess Charlotte’s birthday portraits over the years.
