The Duke of Sussex attends a charity festival after a private family reunion

Prince Harry spoke about finding comfort during difficult moments while attending Scotty’s Summer Festival at Maxstoke Castle in Warwickshire on July 11, 2026. The Duke’s appearance came one day after he reunited privately with King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove House on July 10, 2026. The family meeting also included Meghan Markle, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, marking the children’s first meeting with their grandfather in several years, ending weeks of speculation regarding the visit.

A laugh on a difficult day

The event was set by Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity that supports children who have lost a parent serving in the armed forces, a cause that has been close to Prince Harry’s own charity work. During the festival, the father of two joined several activities, including goat yoga and an inflatable obstacle course, before participating in a question-and-answer session with the children. During that moment, a nine-year-old.old girl named Poppy asked the estranged royal what helps him laugh after a difficult day.

Prince Harry admitted that some days are simply hard and that it is not always easy to smile. “You know what, sometimes it’s just a difficult day. It’s not always possible to laugh,” he said. “But my dog makes me laugh; my children make me laugh. And if I need to laugh, I’ll probably put something really funny on the television.”

Harry continues his long support for Scotty’s Little Soldiers

The Duke of Sussex encouraged the children to rely on family, friends, and their community during hard times. He explained that everyone experiences days when laughing feels impossible, but having supportive people nearby can make a difference. “But, and this goes for all of you, there are some days when you’d like to laugh, but it might not always be possible to laugh,” The Duke said. “But you’ve got brothers and sisters, friends, this community…but yes, I think the point is that a laugh at the end of a hard day is the best medicine served.”

Prince Harry has supported Scotty’s Little Soldiers since 2017 and became the charity’s global ambassador in 2023. During his latest visit to the United Kingdom, he continued to focus on charitable work, especially the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. Finally, following weeks of speculation, Meghan Markle, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet visited Britain for a private family reunion with King Charles.
