An emotional moment between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has resurfaced in light of their rumored visit to the United Kingdom in July 2026 with Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie. The trip would mark the first time Meghan and the children have returned to Britain since 2022, and it has fueled speculation that the Sussex family could visit Althorp, where the late Princess Diana is buried on a private island within the estate’s grounds.
Meghan Markle prayed for clarity and guidance
In his memoir “Spare,” Harry described the poignant moment between him and Meghan as they visited Diana’s grave for the first time in 2022. The royal wrote that they traveled by boat to the island and spent several quiet moments paying their respects. After placing flowers on the grave, Harry gave Meghan time alone with his mother’s memorial. As they walked back, the Duke asked his wife what she had prayed for, and she replied with two words: “clarity” and “guidance.”
“We hesitated, hugging, and then I went first. I placed flowers on the grave. Meg gave me a moment, and I spoke to my mother in my head, told her I missed her, asked her for guidance and clarity,” he revealed. “Feeling that Meg might also want a moment, I went around the hedge, scanned the pond. When I came back, Meg was kneeling, eyes shut, palms against the stone.”
Althorp House holds special meaning for Prince Harry
Princess Diana was laid to rest at Althorp House after her death on August 31, 1997. The estate, located in Northamptonshire, is one of the most important locations connected to her royal legacy. The gravesite is not open to the public and can only be accessed privately. In addition, reports that Althorp will be closed to visitors on July 10 and July 11, 2026, have increased speculation that the Sussex family may stay there during their upcoming visit.
Prince Harry has visited the estate several times over the years, including in August 2024, when he returned for the funeral of his uncle Lord Robert Fellowes. However, the family of four’s visit has not been officially announced yet. King Charles reportedly offered Harry, Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet a place to stay on a royal estate during their visit, but no confirmation has been released.
