Okay, K-Pop stans, time to start clicking vote! That’s because the MTV VMAs 2025 are coming with BLACKPINK leading the charge. Yes, you read that right, all four BLACKPINK members were honored with a nomination in the Best K-pop category, thanks to their work as soloists. But Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo, and Rosé weren’t the only ones considered for the award! Other big names like BTS’ Jimin, aespa, and Stray Kids were nominated.

The Best K-pop category was initially launched in 2019, with BTS winning the award for the first time thanks to “Boy with Luv.” The boy group would go on to win two more times in 2020 and 2021 thanks to “On” and “Butter.” Their streak was stopped by Lisa, who received the award with “Money” in 2022, and then Stray Kids got it, too, in 2023 due to “S-Class.” The latest recipient of the honor is Lisa, again, who got a Moon Person in 2024 thanks to “Rockstar.”

But enough context, let’s break down the nominees for 2025:

aespa – Whiplash:

The first quartet scores their second VMA nomination (they were considered in 2023 with Girls), and this time they’re bringing a serious hit with “Whiplash,” a house-infused and EDM track that’s been making our speakers boom. Could they become the very first girl group to win the award?

Jennie – Like Jennie:

The BLACKPINK member received her very first solo nomination thanks to “Like Jennie,” one of the standout tracks in her debut solo album “Ruby.” Let’s see if this combination of Brazilian funk and hip-hop, alongside its dazzling video, is enough to get her the award this year.

Jimin – Who

The BTS star also gets his first solo nomination in 2025, all thanks to “Who,” a pop track that recalls the energy of the early 2000s.

Jiso – Earthquake

BLACKPINK’s visual queen makes an appearance with her dance-floor-driven track “Earthquake.” Coming from her second solo EP “AMORTAGE,” Jisoo might just be ready to take home her first solo VMA.

Lisa (featuring Doja Cat and Raye) – Born Again:

The VMAs queen has a possibility to win the award once again! As we reported before, Lisa has received the award two times already. If she wins it again, then she would tie BTS as the K-pop act with the most wins in the category.

Rosé – Toxic Till The End:

Rosé might be ready to score one of many solo VMAs! While “Toxic Till The End” is being pushed as her nomination in the Best K-pop category, she has 7 more possibilities thanks to her Bruno Mars collab “APT.” With that, Rosé became the most-nominated K-pop act in the history of the show. Could she put the cherry on top and win this one, too?

Stray Kids – Chk Chk Boom:

This year, Stray Kids bag up their fourth nomination at the VMAs. The group already has one win, making them the second boy group to receive the award after BTS. Will their “Chk Chk Boom” reggaeton-influenced track seal things and give them their second Moon Person?
