The Miss Universe 2025 pageant is making headlines for all the wrong reasons! On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, Thai executive Nawat Itsaragrisil insulted Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch, during a livestream in Bangkok after questioning her absence from a sponsor shoot. The director asked Bosch to stand up and explain her absence, calling her “dumb” and ordering security to take her out during the event.
Bosch then walked out, and so did several contestants, including reigning Miss Universe Victoria Kjær Theilvig. Bosch herself stated after the incident, “I love your country, but that is not ok.” “Does not matter if you have a big dream, if you have a crown. If it takes away your dignity, you need to go.” Clips of the situation began circulating online, gaining traction under hashtags like #StandWithMexico and #JusticeForFatima. Miss Universe México quickly issued a statement calling the behavior “unacceptable” and affirming Bosch’s dignity and strength.
Hours later, the Miss Universe Organization tried to calm the storm, promising safety, unity, and respect for all delegates while a high-level team headed to Thailand to “strengthen collaboration.” However, Nawat Itsaragrisil’s words sparked a wave of backlash online, with thousands of comments and posts calling out his behavior and questioning the Miss Universe organization.
