BLACKPINK is finally back, and their highly anticipated new single “JUMP” drops on July 11. But there’s even more buzz thanks to the name behind the camera: Dave Meyers. If that name rings a bell, it’s because he’s one of the most iconic music video directors in the business, and he’s teamed up with BLACKPINK for what could be their most cinematic comeback yet.

Dave Meyers is known for creating legendary visuals for some of the biggest names in music. He’s directed Humble by Kendrick Lamar, No Tears Left to Cry by Ariana Grande, Bad Guy by Billie Eilish, and Firework by Katy Perry (just to name a few).  With over 200 music videos to his name, he’s a master of storytelling through visuals. These are some of the most important videos he’s directed over the last 5 years:

  • SZA – Shirt.
  • Coldplay and BTS – My Universe.
  • Ed Sheeran – Shivers.
  • Harry Styles – Falling.
  • Ariana Grande – Positions.
  • Camila Cabello – My Oh My.
  • Megan Thee Stallion, Dua Lipa – Sweetest Pie.
  • Sabrina Carpenter – Espresso and Taste.

This isn’t his first time working with K-pop artists either. He previously directed videos for WINNER and collaborated with Lisa on New Woman from the Alter Ego album, which dropped earlier in February this year. Now, he’s back in the K-pop world to bring BLACKPINK’s Jump to life. July 11 can’t come fast enough! While you wait, check out the teaser:
