Kit Connor, Sadie Sink, and Samara Weaving lead new X-Men cast as Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Emma Frost in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

The actors will be playing mutant roles in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men reboot

Marvel Studios is gradually preparing a new generation of X-Men characters for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of the latest names connected to the project is Heartstopper star Kit Connor, who is expected to play Scott Summers, better known as Cyclops. Cyclops is one of the original X-Men and has traditionally been one of the team’s main leaders. His mutant ability allows him to release powerful optic blasts from his eyes. James Marsden previously played the superhero in the original X-Men movies and Tye Sheridan in the later Fox films. His casting was officially announced on August 6, 2026, marking Kit Connor’s first appearance in the MCU.

Sadie Sink is also part of Marvel’s plans for the mutant X-Men franchise. The Stranger Things actress has been confirmed to play Jean Grey, one of the most powerful members of the mutant team. She has already taken on the role, playing the telepathic superheroine in Spider-Man: Brand New Day alongside the film’s protagonist, Tom Holland. Meanwhile, Jean is known for her telepathic abilities and was previously portrayed by Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner.

Finally, Samara Weaving is another major name expected in the reboot, and she has been confirmed as Emma Frost, a powerful telepath who has appeared as both an ally and an opponent of the X-Men in Marvel comics. January Jones previously played the character in X-Men: First Class. Marvel Studios is expected to fully introduce the new X-Men era after Avengers: Secret Wars. Jake Schreier, who directed Thunderbolts, has been connected to the upcoming reboot as director. Meanwhile, the new X-Men movie is currently expected to premiere around 2028.
