Several KATSEYE members have unfollowed Ed Sheeran on Instagram amid controversy surrounding his Loop tour. Fans noticed on September 15, 2026, that Manon, Daniela, Lara, Megan and Yoonchae were no longer following the “Shape of You” creator. The collective unfollow came after rapper Macklemore was removed from the remaining U.S. dates of Ed Sheeran’s tour due to his comments supporting Palestinians during a September 5 performance in New Jersey.
Fans noticed that Lara and Megan liked a post Macklemore shared explaining the reasons behind his removal and supporting Palestine. In addition, fans confirmed that Lara began following the rapper after liking his post. These actions have sparked mixed reactions, with some fans supporting the members’choices and others calling for further steps, including removing “Animal” from future KATSEYE shows.
Ed Sheeran co-wrote “Animal,” one of the singles from KATSEYE’s third EP, released in July. He previously said he became interested in the group after hearing their 2025 single “Gnarly” and eventually contacted them to collaborate on a song. The controversy surrounding Macklemore’s removal after speaking in support of Palestine has also translated to other supporting acts on the Loop tour. Finneas O’Connell, Aaron Rowe, Beoga and Lukas Graham withdrew from the tour in solidarity with Macklemore and Palestinian people. Meanwhile, the tour is scheduled to resume in Philadelphia on September 19 with no confirmed opening artists. Ed Sheeran has not publicly commented on KATSEYE’s decision to unfollow him.
