The dinos are back and they’re not playing. Jurassic World Rebirth just stomped into theaters and crushed the global box office with a $318.3 million opening weekend, making it 2025’s biggest Hollywood debut so far. Directed by Gareth Edwards and led by Scarlett Johansson, this prehistoric sequel is already eating up its movie competitors.

Released in 82 countries, the film’s global bite was massive. China led the charge with $41.5 million, followed by $16.6 million in the UK & Ireland, and $13.9 million in Mexico. It also topped charts in Germany, Korea, India, and Australia. Korea even broke records, with Rebirth becoming the first movie of 2025 to hit 1 million admissions in its opening weekend. In short, it’s not just a hit, it’s a worldwide phenomenon.

The film also became the second biggest opening in Jurassic franchise history (behind only the 2015 OG Jurassic World) and earned Universal its fifth No. 1 opening of the year. In addition, 3D screenings are pulling in over 50% of the box office in some countries, and fans keep flooding IMAX theaters. To top things off, the film made Scarlet Johansson the highest-grossing actor of all time.

Just like that, Jurassic World Rebirth is proving dinosaurs still rule the Earth (and the box office).
