New pictures give a new glimpse into the characters
MBC’s upcoming drama Perfect Crown has released new stills featuring IU and Byeon Woo Seok in character. The series is set in an alternate version of current South Korea, where the country is a constitutional monarchy. It follows Sung Hee Joo (played by IU) and Grand Prince Yi An (played by Byeon Woo Seok).
Who are Sung Hee Joo and Grand Prince Yi An?
Their sudden marriage announcement shakes up the whole nation and becomes big news. The K-Drama presents a romantic story that deals with power, public attention, and the scrutiny that comes when two people from different backgrounds in society come together by love.
Sung Hee Joo is a wealthy chaebol heiress and the head of Castle Beauty. She possesses beauty, talent, and economic resources, but she is still limited by her social position as a commoner and as a child born out of wedlock.
Meanwhile. Prince Yi An is the second son of the king. Although he is admired by the nation for his looks and royal status, he lives carefully and stays out of the spotlight because of his role within the royal family. The difference between the protagonists’ contexts creates tension and gives the story one of its main conflicts.

The new stills show different stages of their relationship, including their time as students at the Royal School and their life as newlyweds. These pictures hint at a deep connection that developed over time between the two protagonists. Perfect Crown will premiere on April 10, 2026, at 9:40 p.m. local time. It is expected to be available internationally through Disney+, airing on Fridays and Saturdays.
