In recent reports, it was revealed that Illinois officially establishes ‘BTS Day‘ to welcome the K-Pop group to Chicago, bringing their ‘ARIRANG‘ World Tour.
On August 25th, local media reports Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker has declared August 27 and 28 as ‘BTS Day in Illinois‘ due to these being the two dates the boys are performing at Soldier Field in Chicago.
This way Illinois welcomes the BTS members and prepares to receive thousands of visitors who are traveling to Chicago for the concerts, becoming an event that will boost the local economy and improve the city’s image as a major cultural destination for visitors.
The State of Illinois’s declaration also commends the group of young men for their significant contributions to various social causes, such as raising mental health awareness, promoting self-love, and engaging in charitable activities, which align with the state’s values.
This is not the first time Governors gave the boy group honors for their visit; previously Toronto designated August 22 and 23 as ‘BTS Weekend’ and temporarily renamed part of a road ‘BTS Boulevard,’ and El Paso County, Texas, proclaimed the concert period ‘El Paso BTS Weekend’ and presented BTS with the ‘Estimado Amigo’ award.
