Hulu has released the first trailer for The Testaments, the sequel series to The Handmaid’s Tale. The series shifts attention to a younger generation raised inside Gilead, premiering on April 8, 2026, with its first three episodes. The story is set years after the events of the original show, following Agnes, played by Chase Infiniti, and Daisy, played by Lucy Halliday. Agnes has grown up completely inside Gilead’s strict and controlled world, while Daisy comes from the outside. Their different backgrounds reflect the way they see the society around them and the rules they are expected to comply with.

The trailer introduces an elite school run under the watch of Aunt Lydia, played again by Ann Dowd. In the school, young women are trained to become wives within Gilead’s system, learning obedience, faith, and duty above all else. Agnes and the other students have only ever learned about this world, with marriage and submission defining their futures. However, Agnes starts to question what she has been taught, and her connection with Daisy appears to become a turning point.

The series is based on Margaret Atwood’s 2019 novel of the same name. It was created by Bruce Miller, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer. The cast also includes Rowan Blanchard, Mattea Conforti, Isolde Ardies, Shechinah Mpumlwana, and Birva Pandya. The show was produced by MGM Television and 20th Television and it continues the story of Gilead through the eyes of the women and girls who were born into it. After the three episode premiere on April 8, 2026, new episodes will be released weekly on Hulu.
