Hudson Williams is working on a new “freaky project”

On February 17, 2026, Canadian star Hudson Williams sat down for an interview with GQ via email. The actor has experienced a major career shift in less than two months, with countless public appearances following the success of Heated Rivalry. Recently, he presented at the Golden Globes, attended two fashion weeks, hosted a private event, carried the Olympic torch, and participated in numerous interviews.

Despite his packed agenda, Hudson Williams is currently back in Canada preparing to film a new project. When asked about the role, he described it in one word: “Freaky.” However, he refused to share details with GQ, simply sharing that fans will have to wait and see if it is “freaky” in a “Shane and Ilya at the cottage” way or a  “This is actually, like, weird” way.

The actor explains how he chooses his roles carefully

Although he did not reveal details about the script for his upcoming project, the Canadian heartthrob made it clear that strong writing and direction guide his choices. He believes that no actor can improve weak writing and that even a good performance can be damaged by poor direction. For Hudson Williams, the script is always the starting point, followed by the vision of the director or creator. This approach reveals how he plans to manage his growing career and future roles after the success of Heated Rivalry.

“It starts with the script, and comes down to the director/creator. No actor can turn shit writing into something great. And at the end of the day, a subpar director can butcher a good performance—and even a good script if they’re really bad—by fumbling the movie at so many points along the way.”

Hudson Williams shares his hopes for Shane Hollander’s future

Fans are also curious about Heated Rivalry season 2. In late 2025, creator Jacob Tierney confirmed that scripts had not yet been written. Still, Hudson hopes to see his character, Shane Hollander, grow beyond fear and emotional restraint.

“I want to see what Shane looks like when he comes into himself and moves away from fear and stifling of his emotions.”

As he closed his message, he offered simple advice: “Be kind to yourself, be diligent, fix your sh*t, and stay sexy.”
