Taeil, formerly of NCT, is officially facing serious legal charges. On February 28, he was summoned to the Seoul Central Court, alongside two non-celebrity accomplices, for quasi-rape. According to a March 4, 2025, Hankook Ilbo report, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office’s Women and Children’s Crime Investigation Division 1 officially indicted them. They allegedly intoxicated a foreign woman in June 2024 and violated her. Previously, the court denied an arrest warrant, citing that Taeil admitted to being guilty.

After the victim reported the incident, Seoul Bangbae Police Station investigated, eventually requesting arrest warrants. In August, Taeil was questioned, and on September 12, he was sent to prosecution on special quasi-rape charges. Rumors circulated about weapons being used, but authorities found no proof. Despite the serious allegations, the court chose not to detain the suspects, deeming the three unlikely to flee.

In August 2024, SM Entertainment confirmed Taeil’s removal from NCT amid the criminal allegations. Debuting in 2016, he initially stood out as a powerful vocalist within NCT 127 and various NCT U units. However, the idol was officially cut off from the group in October last year after major controversies due to the crime. Since then, members have avoided mentioning him, and some fans even burned his merchandise.
