n a recent interview, EVAN opens up about his decision to pursue a solo career, leaving his position in the boy group ENHYPEN after 5 years of their debut.
On September 3rd, Teen Vogue released their interview with the idol, where he talks about his transition to solo music, his perspective of personal success and critics, and his preparation for his return to the stage as a soloist.
During this conversation, the interviewer asked EVAN when he first felt like he wanted to make solo music; he responded, assuring this was an important question, so he will explain in Korean and continue:
“First, a lot of fans knew I was making music, and I too had been thinking that I wanted to share my music with the fans. Through that music, I honestly thought that I could give them great happiness. So, in order to show them this music, I shared such thoughts with the company and made this decision.
After this response focused on his plans and desires, the interviewer asked again about when these feelings of going solo came out, but he seems reluctant to tell the whole story, as he said, “Oh, that’s tough,” and explained it is a story that can affect his former members.
“Because while I want to share, this is honestly not just my story to tell. It could impact many members of the company and many people I love. I don’t think I can.”
Although the K-Pop idol didn’t give a formal answer about the truth behind his departure from the boy group, he made clear that his former members are involved in his decision and they want to keep it private.
