Buckingham Palace has officially confirmed what’s next for King Charles III’s overseas agenda. The Monarch of the United Kingdom and Queen Camilla Parker will embark on a state visit to the Holy See in late October.

Pope Leo XIV will welcome the Royal couple, making it a historic occasion as it will coincide with the 2025 Papal Jubilee, a moment of immense significance for the Catholic Church.

The visit comes months after the death of Pope Francis and the election of Pope Leo XIV. The King and Queen last traveled to the Vatican earlier this year for a private audience with Pope Francis, which marked their final meeting before his passing.

King Charles III has a long history of Vatican visits; he has traveled to the Holy See five times as Prince of Wales. This October’s trip will mark King Charles III and Queen Camilla Parker’s first joint visit as King and Queen.
