During a recent interview for Rolling Stone, BTS‘ Jimin opens up about the real reason behind his impeccable work in the military and his motivation to win many recognitions.
On April 18th, the magazine released the idol individual interview for the section ‘A Conversation in Seoul with Jimin,’ where he talked about ‘ARIRANG‘ success, the creation of ‘they don’t know ’bout us,’ his solo career, and more.
Amid this talk, the interviewer mentioned his military service period, recalling the awards he won during this time for his exceptional performance, and he was asked, “Why do you think you adapted so well to life as a soldier?”
Jimin expressed his surprise due to the interviewer knowing about his milestones in the army and made an unexpected confession about the real motivation behind his achievements, which went from his reputation to his hidden desires of having a break.
“I’m not sure how you heard about the awards and things, but… In the beginning, everyone in the military knows we’re celebrities, right? So, I worked hard because I wanted to leave a good impression. But later on, I just worked hard because I wanted to get more vacation days hehehe.”
The BTS member continues explaining about the similarities between idol and soldier training, revealing that he felt they were a bit prepared for that kind of exhaustion, but the age difference with his soldiers’ companions made him notice some limitations.
“Well, it’s true that we dance a lot and stay in shape. So I think, in a way, we were already prepared for military service. But there was still an age difference compared to the others, so I felt some limitations. I was about ten years older than most.”
