A friendship that sparked at Electric Lady Studios

Remember when BLACKPINK’s Rosé got refreshingly real about her solo journey and the moment Taylor Swift helped her like a superhero? Well, that moment is trending again! It all came first in a Teen Vogue article, initially published on November 18, 2024. The article got new traction thanks to an X post from EMPIRE on December 30, 2025, with new fans learning about the crucial advice Taylor Swift gave the BLACKPINK member.

Here’s how it went down: While working on her upcoming album “rosie,” which dropped on December 6, 2024, Rosé found herself creatively stuck. Unexpectedly, she crossed paths with Taylor Swift in September 2024  at a Jack Antonoff-hosted party at Electric Lady Studios. Rosé shared that she asked Taylor a few questions, as any starstruck fan would, and Taylor instantly turned into the ultimate mentor with experiences, wisdom, and her phone number.

“She gave me her experiences and was so ready to help me. She gave me her number, and she [was] like, ‘Let me know if you have any questions.’ Who does that? Like, you’re Taylor Swift!”

Taylor Swift, the ultimate girl’s girl

Rosé didn’t spill the exact tea on Taylor’s advice, but she made it clear that it came right when she needed it most. According to Rosé, Taylor told her things she should take care of, watch out for, and double-check while navigating life as a newly independent artist. The “APT.” singer explained that becoming a soloist isn’t easy, and Taylor basically helped her with survival advice. Rosé said she felt like she was “drowning a little,” but Taylor calmly walked her through the realities of independence in the music industry.

“She is literally the coolest, and she’s such a girl’s girl. She was telling me – make sure to take care of this, this and this – like, logistics. She was trying to protect me. Me becoming solo, being independent, it’s not an easy thing. There are a lot of things I should be careful with, and she gave me a rundown on all the things I have to look out for. That was the coolest part – she’s killed it in the game, and she was kind enough to walk me through.”

“rosie,” the rawest version of Rosé we’ve ever seen

Back then, Rosé also opened up about how her solo project “rosie,” differed from her work with BLACKPINK. She described the girl group as a dream and even a kind of alter ego, influenced by Beyoncé-level stage glamour. However, the album “rosie” felt raw, like a diary-page version of Rosé that her fans have met through her solo album.

“This is all me. BLACKPINK was the dream, rosie is still the dream. I feel like they both represent me so well. And I mean, that’s why I always say: I’m a grateful little girl.”

The project dropped on December 6, 2024, and its success extended to 2025 with the hit “APT,” a collaboration with Bruno Mars, currently up for three Grammy nominations.
