Season 2 of Netflix’s Wednesday just dropped its second part on September 3, 2025, and fans were hit with a surprise: BLACKPINK’s iconic debut song, “BOOMBAYAH,” soundtracks one of the craziest scenes in the history of the show. Just like that, the Addams Family’s dark universe finally collided with BLACKPINK’s infectious energy.
The song plays during a hilarious and body-switch episode: Enid (Emma Myers), now stuck inside Wednesday’s body, frolics across Nevermore Academy in cute outfits and boss girl energy, with Jenna Ortega nailing the part. According to the show’s music team, Jen Malone, Nicole Weisberg, and Chris Bacon, they had “BOOMBAYAH” in mind for the scene because of its playful vibe and because it helped set the stage for comedic dancing.
“Producers had this song in mind, and also, I think the nature of the song and the way the lyrics are, it kind of makes for a playful moment instead of, like, a K-pop love song. “BOOMBAYAH” and the way that song felt called for the comedic dancing that was going to go with it.
This choice wasn’t just for fun, though. It completely fit Enid’s character, and the team explained that K-pop has been part of her sound. In case you didn’t know, ”Um Oh Ah Yeh” by MAMAMOO was also the soundtrack of one of Enid’s scenes in part 1. Making a playful revelation, Weisberg said that Enid might just be a BLINK, especially since K-pop has taken over the world these last few years.
