YG Entertainment announced on April 30, 2026, that it plans to launch a new five-member boy group in September 2026. The group will be the agency’s first new boy group in six years, following the debut of TREASURE in August 2020. The company had already said that a new all-male act was being prepared in their roster, but this update gave fans a clearer idea of the schedule and group size. It also sparked interest in who the members could be.
Yang Hyun Suk, the founder and executive producer of YG Entertainment, shared the information in a video posted on the agency’s official blog. He said the company is currently planning a September introduction for the boy group and confirmed that the band will have five members. However, he did not reveal the group’s name, concept, members’ names, or debut song, so more information is expected to come in the following months. For now, the announcement works as a first look at YG’s next male act.
“We’re planning to introduce the male group in September for now. The number of its members, which many people may be curious about, is five,” Yang Hyun Suk revealed.
Yang also said YG will gradually introduce more information about its upcoming projects and rookie artists. That includes a new girl group that is tentatively called Next Monster. The agency is also preparing new music from BABYMONSTER and TREASURE. In addition, their veteran group, BIGBANG, announced a world tour to celebrate their 20th anniversary. With these plans, YG Entertainment is now building a strong 2026 lineup, made up of both senior artists, established acts, and rookie groups.
