James Wan,<\/strong> the director of “Aquaman 2,”<\/strong> <\/em>has recently opened up about the role Amber Heard,<\/strong> and her character Mera,<\/strong> would have in the sequel to the aquatic superhero. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly,<\/strong> the filmmaker pointed out that she was never<\/strong> going to play a major role<\/strong> in the motion picture.<\/p>\n

These speculations about Amber Heard having a key role in Aquaman 2 came after the public trial<\/strong> between her and her ex-husband Johnny Depp.<\/strong> In spite of the fact that Depp won the case, the controversy surrounded the trial had a knock-on effect<\/strong> on his career, and he lost a number of roles due to the legal dispute with Heard.<\/p>\n

Due to this, it is no surprise that fans and Internet users speculated<\/strong> about Amber Heard’s future<\/strong> in the Aquaman franchise. Initially, it was rumored that she would go on to have a leading role<\/strong> in the film, but that it could be cut as a result of the public trial and what this implied for her career as an actress.<\/p>\n

Well, it appears to be that the legal controversy<\/strong> with Johnny Depp had nothing to do<\/strong> with her having a less prominent<\/strong> role in Aquaman 2. According to James Wan, the actress was never going to be the focus<\/strong> of the second film, as the movie was set to explore a different direction for Aquaman.<\/p>\n

“I always pitched this to everyone from the get-go. The first Aquaman was Arthur and Mera\u2019s journey. The second movie was always going to be Arthur and [his half-brother] Orm.
