Kit Connor<\/strong>, who brought Nick Nelson to life in Netflix’s \u2018Heartstopper\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, came out as a bisexual man shortly after the release of the first season of the show. However, he recently opened up<\/strong> about this experience in an interview to promote the upcoming second season of the series and revealed that he would have preferred to do it differently<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

After playing a bisexual character in the series, fans started to question the British actor\u2019s sexual orientation and even accused<\/strong> him of only accepting the role to get famous or, in other words, queerbaiting. As a result, he released a statement on his official Twitter account to address the controversy<\/strong> and came out as bisexual<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

A few days ago, Kit was interviewed by Chris Godfrey and he spoke at length about the pressure<\/strong> of fame and how his privacy has been invaded since \u2018Heartstopper’<\/em> became a huge success<\/strong>. Unfortunately, fans of the show were tempted to know more about the actors\u2019 personal lives and he was not the exception.<\/p>\n

During the interview, he confessed it was hard<\/strong> for him to come out in such a public way and that he would have preferred to do it differently. However, he does not regret<\/strong> it:<\/p>\n

\u201cI think \u2018forced\u2019 isn\u2019t the right word I would use, but I would say that I would have preferred to do it another way<\/strong>. I also don\u2019t know if I would have ever done it. But at the end of the day, I don\u2019t regret it. In many ways, it was really empowering. It was just a very natural process for me; I didn\u2019t really have an \u2018oh, shit\u2019 moment. It just became more and more evident.<\/strong>\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n <\/figure>\n \n

Despite this, Kit Connor<\/strong> mentioned he feels lucky<\/strong> for being part of \u2018Heartstopper\u2019<\/em> as the show has had a huge positive impact<\/strong> on thousands of teenagers around the world:<\/p>\n

\u201cAs an actor, you\u2019re not always so lucky to be able to do a project you feel actually has an impact on people. I feel super lucky to have been able to do it.
