In recent times, Asian countries, such as South Korea, have been pointed out for being the first to judge current film productions<\/strong> for different reasons, thus causing the projects to obtain negative numbers for the simple fact of not be accepted by the Middle East.<\/p>\n

So far in 2023, several long-awaited films have been released, including ‘The Little Mermaid<\/strong>‘ starring Halle Bailey<\/strong>, which despite its great impact around the world did not do very well in South Korea, after the numbers received were not expected by the production.<\/p>\n

The new film was compared to other releases of the Disney<\/strong> franchise and resulting in new accusations<\/strong> for the country by numerous international media that call it racist<\/strong> for letting the long-awaited live-action of the iconic Disney princess fail in all its theaters.<\/p>\n

Although many South Koreans, like the rest of the world, expressed their surprise to see that an African American woman would play Ariel<\/strong> in the live-action, many decided to wait for the film to give their opinion, then the Asian Boss<\/strong> YouTube channel walked the streets of South Korea asking about racism<\/strong> and the Disney movie.<\/p>\n

Although many media point to the South Koreans as racist for not achieving the expected numbers at the box office<\/strong>, the truth is that many citizens expressed their appreciation<\/strong> for the production and among the few critics were about the special effects. On the other hand, they praised how funny the movie is and the good music and plot.<\/p>\n

"The Little Mermaid" is dramatically under-performing in China and South Korea amid racist commentary and criticism.<\/p>\n
