One of the novelties is that the live action will not use the famous song &#8220;<strong>Barbie Girl<\/strong>&#8221; by the group <strong>Aqua<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The information was sent to <strong>Variety<\/strong> by manager <strong>Ulrich M\u00f8ller-J\u00f8rgensen<\/strong>, who manages the career of Aqua singer <strong>Lene Nystr\u00f8m<\/strong>. Company executives feared the song could damage the brand.<\/p>\n<p> Therefore, they filed a <strong>lawsuit<\/strong> claiming that \u201cBarbie Girl\u201d featured a promiscuous version of the doll, complete with suggestive lyrics and clips.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Barbie Girl&#8221; topped the UK chart for four weeks and sold 1.<\/p>\n<p>4 million copies in the US alone.<\/p>\n<p> It was a real hit, and the <strong>MCA<\/strong> label didn&#8217;t like Mattel at all. The label claimed that the song was a parody, which is permitted by law, and countersued Mattel for <strong>defamation<\/strong>.
