Owners of hits like \u201cYoungblood\u201d, \u201cEasier\u201d and the classic \u201cShe Looks So Perfect\u201d, the members, <strong>Luke Hemmings<\/strong>, <strong>Calum Hood<\/strong> , <strong>Michael Clifford<\/strong> and <strong>Ashton Irwin<\/strong>, are being sued for $2 million, by its former management company,<strong> YM&amp;U<\/strong>, for an alleged breach of contract.<\/p>\n<p>According to court documents obtained by <strong>Billboard<\/strong>, the band would have refused to pay the YM&amp;U commissions owed to them for &#8220;<em><strong>multiple profitable deals on behalf of the group<\/strong><\/em>&#8220;, including a deal with <strong>BMG<\/strong> valued at US$10 million, and a commercial agreement with <strong>Bravado International Group<\/strong> worth US$1.5 million.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\">\n        <blockquote hcb-fetch-image-from=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/5SOS\/status\/1473429045211582464\" class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I miss the days when we could live outside our heads <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Ax6dRwZkCM\">pic.twitter.com\/Ax6dRwZkCM<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; 5 Seconds of Summer (@5SOS) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/5SOS\/status\/1473429045211582464?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">December 21, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n        <\/figure>\n        \n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>All four band members are listed as defendants, as is their current manager,<strong> Benjamin Evans<\/strong> (who allegedly encouraged the group in its conduct). Led by attorneys <strong>Howard King<\/strong> and <strong>Stephen Rothschild<\/strong>, YM&amp;U seeks $2.5 million in damages, as well as an as-yet-undisclosed amount in punitive damages from Evans in particular.<\/p>\n<p>In the documents, which were filed last Friday in <strong>California Superior Court<\/strong>, lawyers allege that Evans \u201c<em><strong>acted with fraud, malice or oppression<\/strong><\/em>\u201d in helping 5SOS avoid paying YM&amp;U what was owed to them.<\/p>\n<p>You may also like: <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em><strong>Evans and other 5SOS consultants believed that by refusing to pay (the YM&amp;U Group) anything for their months of service, 5SOS could pressure them to substantially discount what 5SOS owed<\/strong><\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>5 Seconds Of Summer <strong>signed<\/strong> with YM&amp;U for seven months between February and September this year.
