The merger went really well, but the song itself has a greater meaning.

C

It was an artist’s response against xenophobia. Information is from Weverse magazine.

It all started in February 2021, when BTS sang a cover of Coldplay’s “Fix You” on the “MTV Unplugged” special. It was then that a German DJ named Matthias Matuschik compared BTS to coronavirus, which earned him accusations of racism and xenophobia. An unfortunate comment indeed.

Since that time, BTS and Coldplay have turned completely against this xenophobic positioning.

Therefore, the idea of partnership, which was already being considered, became even stronger. From there came a song that speaks of a single universe of equality, without separations. ()

“As a result, this social conscience found its way into the final product when (the partnership) was finally released, making the collaboration more than just the music itself”, commented Weverse magazine.

<

This was certainly not the news that Coldplay fans would want to read practically on Christmas Eve.
