In an interview with Variety published on September 14, 2026, the \u201cNew Woman\u201d hitmaker reflected on the controversy surrounding leaked videos from the group\u2019s early years that showed members practicing hip-hop songs while saying the N-word. There isn\u2019t any education for that, so at the time, I didn\u2019t know,\u201d she said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n        <\/figure>\n        \n<p>The videos were recorded more than a decade ago, when the then trainee BLACKPINK members were teenagers. The footage surfaced publicly in 2025 as Lisa prepared for her first solo Coachella performance and had recently released her solo album, \u201cAlter Ego.\u201d Speaking about the incident, she said that she had not received education about that racial slur in Thailand at the time and acknowledged that she needed to apologize. In addition, she revealed that the label involved in the issue did not allow her to address the video.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\">\n        <blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Lisa is apologizing for the leaked trainee videos of her and the other Blackpink members rapping and using the N-word as young teens:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI really have to apologize. The documentary covers projects including her solo album Alter Ego, her acting debut in The White Lotus, and her preparations for the 2025 Coachella festival, while also showing the pressures surrounding her personal and professional life.
