Prince Harry<\/strong> and Meghan Markle<\/strong> are getting ready to move back to the United Kingdom<\/strong> with their two children after living in Montecito, California, since 2020. Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are expected to begin school in Britain in September 2026. The location of the Sussexes \u2019 new home and the school their kids will attend will remain private. The family\u2019s move comes more than six years after Prince Harry and Meghan announced in January 2020 that they would step back from their positions as working members of the royal family in a statement at that time:<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cAfter many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as \u2018senior\u2019 members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n <\/figure>\n \n

However, the couple is not expected to resume their duties as official working royal members. According to PEOPLE, King Charles has maintained that the Sussexes will continue as private individuals outside the work of the British royal family. It was also reported that any possible changes in Prince Harry\u2019s future royal status would need to be discussed with his father and formally agreed upon.<\/p>\n

Following their departure, the late Queen Elizabeth gave a rare statement at the Sandringham Summit meeting. Addressing the couple’s exit from royal life, she shared:<\/p>\n

Since moving to California, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have developed several projects outside royal life. They created Archewell Philanthropies and worked with companies including Netflix and Spotify. The Duchess of Sussex also launched her lifestyle brand, As ever, which she plans to continue leading after the move.
