It was revealed in recent reports that the Grammys<\/strong> bowed to K-pop<\/strong> and created a category exclusively for Asian pop, opening the door for many artists and giving them the recognition they deserve.<\/p>\n

On June 16th, The Recording Academy<\/a> announced the addition of 5 new categories for the 2027 Grammy Awards, including ‘Best Asian Pop Music Performance Award,’<\/strong> giving more visibility to the outstanding Asian talent.<\/p>\n

According to the Grammys, this award “recognizes artistic excellence in Asian pop music performances originating from or widely recognized within Asian markets, including but not limited to K-pop, J-pop, and C-pop, with meaningful use of one or more Asian languages.”<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The Academy’s official criteria state that eligibility<\/strong> depends on the musical style, not the ethnicity or nationality of the artist. In addition, candidate songs must feature significant use of one or more Asian languages, while songs entirely in English are excluded but can still compete in general pop categories.<\/p>\n

The Asian genre received this recognition after years of significant nominations and winning its first Grammy with the song ‘Golden<\/strong>‘ from ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ Sountrack.
